Founding Supporter of the Museum, Cinecittà has signed a deal that will bring Italian Cinema to Los Angeles with festivals, exhibitions and retrospectives. ACADEMY MUSEUM ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH ISTITUTO LUCE – CINECITTÀ The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures announced Istituto Luce – Cinecittà as a Founding Supporter with a five-year agreement in support of an annual series of Italian films and accompanying public programs. The museum will be the world’s premier institution dedicated to the art and science of movies and moviemaking. Over the course of the five-year agreement, the Academy Museum team will curate an annual series of Italian masterpiece film screenings and programs in consultation with Istituto Luce – Cinecittà. THE NEW LIFE OF CINECITTÀ In July 2017, Cinecittà Studios returned to public management, making Istituto Luce Cinecittà the first and only Italian audiovisual hub. This return to the public was very important for the industry and the city of Rome. First of all for its social impact, having managed to keep and strengthen our team. Secondly, the MiBAC (Italian Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities) has initiated an important investment plan to renovate the entire complex, providing Cinecittà with new equipment and technologies. DOGMAN by Matteo Garrone is the official Italian Oscar submission It comes as no surprise that Dogman by Matteo Garrone will be representing Italy in the Oscars Best Foreign-language Film nomination race. The nominations will be announced in Los Angeles on 22 January 2019, with the official awards ceremony due to take place on 24 February. The ANICA-established commission chose Garrone's film from 21 nominated titles, all of which were distributed in Italian cinemas from 1 October 2017 to 30 September 2018. Other films in the running included Happy as Lazzaro by Alice Rohrwacher, awarded at Cannes with a Special Jury Mention.
