| Synopsis: |
First half of the Thirties. The Vegetti's peasant family has three children: the little Edo, Sultana and Carlino, a boy who is much in demand among young girls.
The Osti's, instead, are landowners who have made a fortune and live in a big house with their three daughters, all in search of a husband: the older ones, Maria and Amabile, and the young and beautiful Francesca.
Making the best of a bad lot, Sisto and Rosalia Osti accept the young peasant Vigetti courting the two older sisters with the intention of fixing at least one of them up. A period of meetings with the two girls starts in the living room of Osti's family, but one day the sudden arrival of Francesca, who was out of town to study, upsets everything.
