DE LAURENTIIS HOMMAGE

A never before seen clip of Dino De Laurentiis as a young actor, entering the world of film as a student, inaugurates this year's Cinema Italian Style in Los Angeles. In remembrance of the great producer, a snippet from Batticuore, shot in 1939 by Mario Camerini, will be screened at the Egyptian Theater upon the first anniversary of De Laurentiis' death. In remembrance of the great Dino, who passed away on November 11th one year ago, Cinecittà Luce (which created and, since 2004, has produced Cinema Italian Style in collaboration with the prestigious American Cinematheque), found a short clip in which Dino, then a student at the "Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia" in Rome, appears dressed as a delivery boy, with a bouquet of roses for Assia Noris, the film's heroine, in the room of an exclusive hotel.

The clip, kindly granted by Ripley's film and retrieved from the Experimental Cinematography Center – National Film Library, shows Dino in one of his earliest experiences in the film industry. Mr. De Laurentiis' wife and daughters, Carolyna and Dina, have been informed of the "surprise" and will be in Hollywood to watch the previously unreleased clip. His family looks forward to getting a visual for the story of "the black shoes" their father often told. (To film the scene, Dino borrowed a pair of black shoes from a shoemaker who trusted that Dino would return them, and who showed up 15 years later in the office of the successful producer, asking for and receiving a job).

To accompany the previously unreleased clip, a few selections from the special "Dino, un amore per il cinema" by Maria Grazia Fantasia will be shown, kindly granted by Rai.

The footage, approximately 4 minutes long, will be previewed for the American press on November 10th at the De Laurentiis residence in Beverly Hills, in order to promote Cinema Italian Style 2011.

Friends and relatives of Dino De Laurentiis, the great Italian producer who – in his outstanding career – has produced more than 600 movies including the 1976 remake of "King Kong" (which inspires the 2011 CIS campaign), will remember his personality on the exact day of his departure, one year ago.

Among his titles, two Oscar® winning movie by Federico Fellini "The nights of Cabiria" and "La strada", "The three days of the condor", "Serpico", "Hannibal"...
